Weekend hours

33.5% of the roofing companies that list hours on Google show both weekend days as closed. Of the 4 trades we counted, only plumbing is higher, at 35.6%. HVAC came out at 29.0% and water damage at 14.0%.

We only searched from Oct 5 to 25, so these are October's listed hours. We can't see whether roofers change them when storm season hits.

No website on the profile

One in five roofers we counted (20.0%) show no website on their Google profile. Some of them may have a site that isn't linked there.

Reviews at the top of the Google Maps list

In a typical roofing search, the top 3 listings have a median of 77 reviews (the middle count: half have more, half have fewer), and the companies ranked 4 to 20 have a median of 42. Google uses reviews as one input among many. These counts describe the list, not what put each roofer in its spot.

Four checks before your next roofing estimate

  1. Type "roofing" and your town into Google Maps, and count the reviews on the first 3 roofers.
  2. Read the weekend hours on your profile. If you take weekend calls, list those hours.
  3. Check that your website is listed on your Google profile.
  4. Ask every customer for a review on the day the roof is finished.

How we counted

Source: 10,101 saved Google Maps searches, Oct 5 to 25, 2026, 4 trades.

Three counting rules:

  • Each company is counted once.
  • A listing with no reviews counts as 0.
  • Searches with fewer than 10 results are skipped.

What these numbers don't show:

  1. Listed hours on Google, not whether a company answers the phone. Companies with no hours listed are left out.
  2. Each company counted once per trade. A trade search can include companies from other trades.
  3. Reviews are one of many things Google weighs, and these counts don't show that more reviews move a company up. A listing with no reviews counts as 0. Searches with fewer than 10 results are skipped.
  4. "No website" means no website is listed on the Google profile. The company may still have a site.
  5. When we searched the same place a second time, we left that second search out. Counting it changes each percent by 0.4 points or less.

Roofing weekend hours are the hours listed in October, not storm-season availability. This study can't see seasonal changes.

Our local search data pages count something else: listings per city, each with its own search date. This page counts companies across the 10,101 saved searches from Oct 5 to 25.
